South Korea Launches K-AI Package on July 20, Integrating AI with Infrastructure Funding for Developing Nations

According to South Korea's Finance Ministry, Deputy Prime Minister Koo Yun-cheol announced on July 20 the launch of the K-AI package, which integrates artificial intelligence technology with the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) to support infrastructure development in emerging markets and create export opportunities for domestic AI companies.

The initiative will link AI solutions, data centers, and renewable energy facilities to EDCF-funded infrastructure across seven priority sectors: water resources, healthcare, energy, transportation, agriculture, culture, and education. The government plans to coordinate funding through EDCF, the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), multilateral development banks, and other development financing mechanisms to support the deployment of Korean technology and components in developing countries.
