U.S. Court Orders Seizure of $8.37M in Crypto Assets From BlackCat Ransomware Associate Angelo Martino

According to Odaily, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida ordered the forfeiture of approximately 90.319 BTC, 7,999.873 XMR, and smaller amounts of XRP, XLM, and SOL belonging to Angelo Martino, a BlackCat/ALPHV ransomware associate. The crypto assets are valued at approximately $8.37 million, with BTC accounting for roughly $5.84 million, XMR for $2.46 million, and other tokens for approximately $71,000. The court also ordered the seizure of two Florida properties and vehicles including a boat. Martino, who served as a ransomware negotiator, was sentenced to 70 months in prison after leaking customer negotiation information to attackers and participating in ransomware operations.
