U.S. Stocks Open Higher on July 9 as Semiconductor Index Jumps 5.13%

According to Yonhapnews, on July 9, U.S. stocks opened higher as semiconductor stocks rallied. As of 9:51 AM ET, the S&P 500 rose 0.31% to 7,506.06, the Nasdaq climbed 0.48% to 25,994.79, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.05% to 52,372.89. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surged 5.13%, led by Rambus up 10.49%, Western Digital up 8.01%, Micron up 7.78%, and Seagate Technology up 7.69%.

Escalating U.S.-Iran tensions capped market upside. The U.S. Central Command struck approximately 90 Iranian targets, with reports of attacks near nuclear facilities in southern Iran and a strategic railway bridge connecting Iran with China and Russia. Iran responded by attacking U.S. military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar.
